This is one of those posts where something just happened and you want to get it off of your mind, so you write about it.
Have you ever stopped and thought about what you are going to say before you actually say it? I try, but it rarely happens. Sometimes I talk so fast that I have no idea where half the stuff I say comes from. It wasn't until tonight that I realized how much someones words can effect (affect.. I don't know which one.. I'm still on my 3-yr English hiatus) the one that they are said to.
Do guys ever think about what they are saying to girls? No. They don't care half the time either. Do you think about how the things you just said are going to impact another, even if you don't to it directly? Sadly, for me, most of the time, no. You can take things too far and not even think about it. A vast majority of the time you will never know how hurtful your words were, nor how deep they pierced. The person won't let it show. So how can these people realize their mistakes and hurtfulness, I have no idea. I pray that God will help to enlighten them and me when I make this same mistake. I may not realize it at the time, but being on the receiving end, I know how much it really does hurt. I hope that I'll think more about what I say before saying it now.
"Don't let them get to you." "Crying admits defeat and shows weakness." --they all say.
They got to me. I am weak and defeated. Lord, I need strength to help me rise above the situation and to carry on.

Jennifer darling,
I felt you on this one. Sometimes no matter how much you want to NOT care...you just do...prayer and a darn good "ventillatee" (oh boy, GG) are the only things that help.
so much truth there in your post. careless words certainly do affect those who receive them, even if they pretend otherwise.
how will people realize how hurtful they've been to someone else? the "someone else" has to let them know...keep the relationship honest...initiate reconciliation that the other person doesn't even know is necessary. it's a bold and risky step. are you willing to take it?
pray about it and see what God would have you do.
